Take YOUR SON, Your Only Son
God tested Abraham to see whom He would choose.
To obey and keep this sacrifice meant his son he would lose.
His only son Isaac, laughter was his name.
The child of the promise this was his claim.
But on a beast of burden they traveled to the place,
with wood for a sacrifice and faith in God’s grace.
He took his son Isaac and laid him on the wood.
Prepared to take his life but he understood.
That if his life was taken, God could bring him back.
For through him was the promise, his faith didn’t lack.
Isaac asked his father where was the lamb?
There was to be an offering, did he understand?
God will provide the offering was all that he could say.
He then stretched out his hand for the knife to slay.
Then an angel called from heaven as he looked up to see.
Don’t slay your son Isaac you’ve not withheld from me.
His faith had passed the test, a truth would now unfold.
A ram was then provided, just as he had told.
The picture of this sacrifice that nearly came to be.
Was a picture for the future for the entire world to see.
Indeed, would come a sacrifice and he would be His Son,
the sacrificial Lamb of God, Israel’s Holy one.
This time the blade would fall, to take the life within.
A perfect sacrifice, Atonement for our sin.
Now as Abraham had reckoned God indeed could save.
His Son who had died now rose from the grave.
